Ravi made 3-4 calls to woman IAS officer, not 44: Sudhir Reddy's advocate to court
Bengaluru: Even as the state government sought to vacate the stay order, which restrains them from disclosing the CID interim report on the unnatural death of IAS officer D.K. Ravi, the advocate for the petitioner Sudhir Reddy, the husband of the woman IAS officer, has disputed the claim that Ravi had made 44 calls. He submitted that the late IAS officer had made three to four calls to the petitioner’s wife.
Meanwhile, Additional Advocate General AAG A.S. Ponanna submitted before the high court that there is an urgency for the state government to place the status report of the investigation as the government was answerable to the opposition and the public at large.
The state government also argued on the interlocutory application (IA) filed seeking to vacate the stay granted by the court restraining the government from disclosing any details of the CID’s interim report. The petitioner’s advocate Sajjan Poovayya, strongly objected to the state’s plea to vacate the stay, arguing that the interim order must not be vacated as the details of the CID investigation will be out in the public domain.
The state also sought that the sealed envelope submitted to the court be handed over to the CBI by the Registrar of the High Court. To this Justice S Abdul Nazeer questioned on how the court can hand it over to CBI as they were not even parties in the petition. However, the bench said that if an application is filed by the CBI, the request may be considered.
The bench further questioned on whether the interim order granted may become infructuous as the government has already handed over the investigation to the CBI. Justice Nazeer directed the petitioner’s advocate to file objections to the IA filed by the government and adjourned the next hearing to Thursday.
