Power tariff hike: YSRC demands rollback in price rise
Hyderabad: The YSRC on Tuesday demanded a rollback of the hike in power tariff and accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of going back on his poll promise of reducing the tariff.
Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy challenged the CM to an open debate on power tariff calculations presented before the House by Naidu during his statement.
Reddy said he was ready to discuss the plant load factor and power tariff hike issue and asked if Naidu will resign if the calculations on the power tariff presented by him in the Assembly are proven wrong.
The YSRC members even staged a walkout from the House demanding roll back of power tariff.
Reddy pointed out that power charges were not increased for about six years when Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was the CM of undivided Andhra Pradesh. He also recalled that YSR had cancelled the arrears with retrospective effect, but the Telugu Desam-ruled state government was collecting them.
