WHO criticized for slow response during deadly Ebola outbreak
The report criticised role players & the international community for ignoring warnings about the epidemic
Edinburgh: The World Health Organization (WHO) has been widely criticized for its slow response in Ebola epidemic in West Africa as the organization did not declare it an emergency until last summer, two months after the outbreak.
Many governments and charities have also admitted that they could have done things differently, reported the Scotsman. Health experts and charities have warned, one year after the deadly Ebola outbreak, that the danger is far from over.
More than 10,000 people have died and 24,000 infected since the Ebola epidemic began in Guinea in December in 2013. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has been condemned for its slow response while various countries admitted that they could have done things differently.
The medical humanitarian organization has released a report to mark the anniversary, which it dedicated to the 500 healthcare workers who have died, including 14 involved with the charity.
