FIR against Renuka Chowdary for allegedly taking 1 crore bribe from aspiring election candidate

Chowdary has been booked under IPC and SC and ST Atrocities Act

Khammam: An FIR was filed against Renuka Chowdary, former Union minister and Rajya Sabha MP at the Burhanpuram police station in Khammam under IPC and SC and ST Atrocities Act on Friday.

The FIR was registered as per a complaint lodged by one Bhukya Kalavathi, wife of Bhukya Ramji Naik, a doctor, who tried to contest on a Congress ticket from the Wyra Assembly constituency in the 2014 elections. Ms Chowdary and seven followers of the MP were named under the sections of IPC 420 and 506 and 3 (1) (X) of SC and ST Atrocities Prevention Act.

Kalavathi, in her complaint said that her husband had given Rs 1.10 crore to her on two occasions on December 1, 2013 and March 30, 2014. Adding to it, three persons, who were followers of the MP, Rangareddy, Dayakar Reddy and Subba Reddy took Rs 5 lakh each from her husband to meet expenses, she said, adding that her husband was not given a party ticket.

A disturbed Ramji Naik, lost his practice, after he was cheated by Ms Chowdary. A dejected Ramji Naik died on October 14, 2014.
