Ligature mark found on Ravi’s neck
Mysuru: A preliminary examination conducted by doctors at Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Bengaluru Medical College and Research Institute revealed a ligature mark on the neck of IAS officer D.K. Ravi who was found dead on March 16 at his apartment. The post-mortem was conducted on March 17.
Sources said the ligature (strangulation) mark can occur in the neck region when a person hangs himself. The same mark can also occur if a person has died after injecting a drug or is smothered and hanged within six hours after death, which is called the Agonal period, they said.
The samples of his vital organs have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory and for Histopathology studies and the reports are awaited. The FSL report will confirm if there was poisoning or injection of a drug while the Histopathology reports will reveal changes in vital organs which will further confirm the cause of death, sources said.
