Details on High Court split later, says K. Chandrasekhar Rao
Hyderabad: The copy of the resolution approving the bifurcation of the High Court did not mention where the new court would be located, or whether the existing HC building would go to AP or TS.
Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy and Opposition members asked Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to include these details in the resolution before adopting it. Mr Rao refused to do so citing “technical reasons”.
“All these details cannot be mentioned in the resolution due to technical reasons. This resolution has been drafted based on the suggestions given by the Advocate General. There is a certain legal framework, which has to be followed. I will disclose all these details in my letter to the Centre. The letter will be sent through the law secretary who will meet the Union law minister and secretary and hand it over on Thursday,” he said.
BJP MLA G. Kishan Reddy sought an amendment to stop recruitment of judges till the bifurcation of High Court was complete. Mr Rao said these issues could not be included in the resolution copy and he would give a clarity on these in his letter to the Centre.
KCR meets Chief Justice, talks HC split
KCR on Wednesday met Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta of the Hyderabad High Court at his residence for more than two hours.
Sources said that Mr Rao told the Chief Justice that advocates from Telangana were treated unfairly in judicial appointments. He also explained that the government was prepared to provide accommodation on a temporary basis to the AP government if the latter decided to continue its HC in Hyderabad.
Sources said that Mr Rao clarified to the Chief Justice that his government was prepared to share the existing building with AP and would establish the Telangana HC in a separate building.
The CM requested the CJ to allocate the legitimate share to Telangana in the ongoing recruitment of the junior civil judges and not to make any further recruitments, sources said.
