Facing Sri Lanka in the first quarterfinals at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday, South Africa were on top of the game after 32 overs when the Island country were reeling at 109 for 4 and then Duminy made sure wickets keep tumbling.
He first picked up Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews after he tried to whip a flighted delivery from way outside midwicket. That was the last ball of the Duminy over. Coming back, he continued his magic with the ball first sending Kulasekara and then debut Sri Lankan player, a ‘duplicate Murali’ Kaushal thus completing his first World Cup hat-trick.

This edition of the World Cup however, has seen its second hat-trick. England’s Steven Finn completed a five-wicket haul and was this World Cup’s first bowler to complete a hat-trick when England were up against Australia in the league stage.
Finn completed his hat-trick at the business end of the Australian innings- in the 49th over picking up Brad Haddin, the danger man Maxwell and then Mitchell Johnson, who was caught by James Anderson.
Overall, the World Cup has now seen nine hat-tricks.
