Hyderabad: Announcing a spate of sops for the Muslim community, Chief Minister k. Chandrasekhar said that the government could begin recruitments for 2,500 Urdu teachers very shortly.
The Chief Minister also said that orders would be issued soon for setting a creamy layer ceiling for Muslim minorities at Rs 6 lakh per annum adding that applications for the flagship Shaadi Mubarak scheme should be accepted just on the basis of voter’s identity cards.
MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi raised several issues pertaining to Muslim minorities in the state on Tuesday and Mr Rao immediately accepted most of the proposals put forth by Mr Owaisi. He assured the Assembly that required steps would be taken to ensure that compensation was paid by multinational companies situated on Wakf lands, to the Wakf Board.
“The Central Wakf Act per se is very rigid. Whatever buildings have come up on Wakf lands, be it Lanco Hills or anything else, should pay compensation for the same to the Wakf Board,” he said.
He assured that a new Haj House would be constructed in the city which would also provide vocational training to the Muslim youth.
“The existing Haj House is not enough. It is very congested. We can use it as the office,” he said.
The Chief Minister further informed Mr Owaisi that around 2.5 lakh Mus-lims in the state have been receiving pensions under the Aasara scheme, which was about 7.46 per cent.
