MIM asks Telangana government to pay heed to CAG report on lands

MIM said previous govts in undivided AP gave away valuable lands at throwaway prices

Hyderabad: MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi asked the Telangana government to take the CAG report into cognisance and order a probe into the irregularities in land allotments, especially in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, made by previous governments in undivided AP saying that valuable lands were alienated at throwaway prices.

He said Muslims lagged behind SCs and STs in Telangana and the 12 per cent reservations should be implemented for them soon as promised.

“The 2011-12 CAG report detected grave irregularities in the allotment of lands to various institutions. As much as 88,492 acres were allotted to just 127 beneficiaries. There was no transparency in this process and no public interest is involved. They failed to create jobs. Why can’t the TS government order a probe to find out the irregularities in alienation of valuable lands in Hyderabad and RR districts in undivided state? We demand the government to take steps in this regard at the earliest,” Mr Owaisi said.

He praised late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy for giving utmost priority to the welfare of minorities during his tenure that was never witnessed before and urged Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to emulate YSR in this regard.

“YSR was the only Chief Minister, who took concrete measures for the welfare of minorities. His role in giving 4 per cent reservations for Muslims in education and jobs cannot be forgotten ever,” Mr Owaisi said.

He extended other major benefits like fee reimbursement scheme, scholarships for students, Arogyasri and loands to minorities on saturation-basis," Mr Owaisi said.

He added that the chair of Leader of the House in Assembly (CM's chair) always reminds him of YSR due to the sincerity and his commitment towards welfare of minorities.
