The bio-bus runs on poo instead of petrol
The Bio-Bus which runs on human waste has made its maiden journey in England. The bus is powered by biomethane gas which uses waste from more than 32,000 households along its 15-mile route.
According to Metro.co.uk, Operated by bus company First West of England, the bus will fill up at a site in Avonmouth, Bristol, where sewage and inedible food waste is turned into biomethane gas. The bus can accomodate upto 40 people at a time and will operate four days a week reportedly. Running on biomethane gas will effectively help reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared with other fuels.
First West of England managing director James Freeman was quoted saying, ‘Since its original unveiling last year the Bio-Bus has generated worldwide attention and so it’s our great privilege to bring it to the city, to operate – quite rightly – on Service 2.
Human poop can now literally save the environment!
