Hyderabad: Minister of information technology and panchayat raj K.T. Rama Rao said on Sunday that the Telangana government was not being complacent on the bifurcation of the High Court.
Participating in a meeting here, the IT minister said that Union law minister, Sadananda Gowda should not have said that the Telangana government was also responsible for the delay in sending letters to the Centre, requesting the High Court’s division.
“It is not proper for the Union minister pointing fingers at us, he should have checked the facts. At no time have we been complacent, and the Telangana government has been insisting on the division of the High Court,” Mr Rao said.
He added that almost immediately after being elected to power, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had written to the Union government, requesting to take steps for the division of the High Court as per the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act.
“Thereafter the chief minister wrote several letters and also met the Prime Minister over this; in fact it is the Andhra Pradesh government that needs to write to the Centre, which they have not,” he added.
The IT minister also said that if the Union law minister wanted a fresh letter from the Telangana government, they would do that.
Ridiculing the BJP’s campaign for the Graduate MLC elections with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s portrait, Mr Rao said it was typical of the BJP leaders, who were responsible for transfer of seven mandals of Telangana state to Andhra Pradesh, taking support from Mr Chandrababu Naidu, who was known for his anti-Telangana stance.
