Police detain 11 Telugu Desam MLAs for protesting suspension in Telangana Legislative Assembly
Hyderabad: TDP's floor leader E Dayakar Rao along with deputy leader A Revanth Reddy and 10 MLAs were taken into preventive custody today for staging a demonstration here against their suspension from the Budget session.
The leaders gathered neared the Gun park and expressed their protest by covering their mouths with black cloth.
"Ten TDP MLAs were taken into preventive custody and they were shifted to Goshamahal," Assistant Commissioner of Police (Goshamahal Division) K Ram Bhupal Rao said.
In view of the prohibitory orders imposed around the Assembly premises, protests and demonstrations are prohibited, the ACP said.
The legislators were suspended by Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary yesterday after they refused to tender an apology for a protest during Governor's address on the opening day and for allegedly insulting the national anthem on last Saturday.
