India to add 68 billionaires by the year 2024
Mumbai: Led by a revival in economic activities and improving business environment, leading Indian cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chennai are likely to beat their global peers when it comes to adding billionaires over the next few years.
According to a wealth report released by property consultant Knight Frank, Bengaluru will see the second highest growth in the number of billionaires globally by 2024 followed by Mumbai and Delhi. While the number of billionaires residing in Bengaluru will see a growth of 114.3 per cent over the next 10 years, Mumbai and Delhi would see their billionaire population increase by 110 per cent and 109.1 per cent respectively during the same period.
The reports stated that the number of billionaires in India during 2014 stood at 68, which is expected to grow to 136 by 2024. Only USA, China and Russia will have more billionaires than India by 2024. During the same period, the number of UHNI (with net-worth of $30 million and more) would rise to 3,371 from 1,652.
