Xiaomi to launch two more products in India?
Is Xiaomi launching another product in India? Well, the new post on their Facebook page states that they are ready to roll out another product in India. Media reports state that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 2 and/or the Mi Pad in India, this week.
Xiaomi had launched the Redmi 2 in China, last year. However, the debut in India seems to be this month. So what does the Redmi 2 define in terms of specifications and how different is it from the Redmi 1S?
Referring to the table above, the Redmi 2 will be similar sized and sport a similar look to the Redmi 1S. What makes a difference is the chipset and the radio. While the Redmi 1S sports a Snapdragon 400 processor, the Redmi 2 will have a slightly higher chipset with a SD410 chipset and a marginally faster Adreno graphics processor. The internal storage has been bumped to 16GB, and the battery is slightly higher at 2200 mAh. But the big difference is the 4G LTE support, which will be a low-budget with a high-speed data network. What remains the same is the display size, resolution and type, the primary camera and the looks. Going by the entire given specifications, it seems like the Redmi 2 could be a product to watch as it can break another market by being one of the lowest priced 4G-enabled budget smartphone with Lenovo and Motorola in competition.
On the other hand Xiaomi is also expected to debut the Mi Pad in India. The Mi Pad is a competitor to all the Android-based tablets in India and also looks pretty similar to Apple’s iPad. With an 8-inch display, the Mi Pad is a pretty, wanna-have tablet for those looking for an Android tablet. The Mi Pad sports a 7.9-inch display with a resolution of 1536x2048 pixels IPS panel and a Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Down below, the Pad is driven by an NVIDIA Tegra K1 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The Mi Pad is available in 16GB and 64GB variants with expandable storage options. An 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and a 6700mAh battery completes the other specifications. The Mi Pad is expected to retail between Rs 13,000 and Rs 17,000 in India.
However, there is no official word from Xiaomi as yet. But in a few days to come, Xiaomi will be definitely sending out invitations for the product launch and we shall be one of the first to let the news out. Till then, stay tuned to Deccan Chronicle.
