Now you can watch videos on your smartphone without buffering
Mumbai: You can now watch video on your mobile without experiencing buffering and despite the networks being clogged since infrastructure has not kept up with the burgeoning number of subscribers. There are about 8,500 mobile devices from 200 manufacturers and different networks available in the country.
The new technology evolved by Vuclip, a mobile video on demand service (VoD) for emerging markets, provides a balance between a great experience without huge costs while keeping the balance with the huge variety of mobiles and mobile networks.
Nickhil Jakatdar Vuclip’s CEO said they have applied for multiple patents for their new technologies. Browser based solutions provide enhanced experience and a lot more core technology work is being done in Pune which is the company’s 3rd global R&D centre after Silicon Valley and Beijing, said Jakatdar. One part is core experience when you are able to open an app quickly, quality of video is good, loads quickly and without buffering.
“Data is growing exponentially and there is need to provide quality and this is expensive. Networks are never steady and this is a technological challenge and we have the technology that balances the need to keep up with variations in mobile networks without adding much to cost for the consumer,” says Jakatdar.
The future of VoD will see owners giving videos on rental basis as a sustainable business model, to meet the rampant video piracy, he says. The Pune R&D centre expects to hire more than 100 engineers in the next 12 months.
