Therapy on, Arvind Kejriwal begins day at 5.30 am
Bengaluru: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal woke up to an early morning yoga session on Friday at the Jindal Naturecure Institute. His second day in Bengaluru, where he has come for a 10-day naturotherapy session, began as early as 5.30 am with the yogic kriya, a walk through the lush green premises and Pranayama (breathing exercise). “We have begun with the full-fledged treatment. It was a hectic day from 5.30 am to 8.30 pm for him,” said Dr Babina Nandakumar, Chief Medical Officer of the institute. Doctors collected Mr Kejriwal’s blood samples to check his blood sugar levels. “Based on the results, further changes will be made in his treatment. He also underwent an acupuncture therapy,” she said.
“The focus will now be on bringing down his sugar levels and reducing his cough. The necessary treatment procedures have been started. Today, he was given the hot stone massage,” she said. Though the treatment schedule drawn up for Mr Kejriwal requires 21-30 days, he has only 10 days break and has to head back to Delhi immediately after. “We will offer whatever we can in those 10 days,” said Dr Nandakumar.
Mr Kejriwal’s diet includes whole wheat phulkas, fruits and dishes made of organic vegetables. He is being given bitter gourd juice, ginger tea, tulsi kadha, juice made of green leafy vegetables and also sprouted fenugreek seeds, the doctors said.
Kejriwal has told the doctors that he should be treated like any other patient.
"He does not have special security and most certainly does not want to disturb the peace of others," said Mr K.K. Ghose, Administrator, Jindal Institute.
"Mr Kejriwal made it clear in the morning that he did not want any of his gunmen around and wanted to be left alone," Mr Ghose said.
