Pawan Kalyan demands Social Impact Assessment study in Andhra Pradesh capital area

Actor –politician requests three villages be excluded from land pooling plan

Hyderabad: Actor Pawan Kalyan on Friday demanded a Social Impact Assessment study in the capital area and asked the TD government to have a “broader vision”.

Stating that farmers were “satisfied with the LPS package given by Naidu’s government”, Pawan requested the government to exclude three anti-LPS villages from the land pooling as it might lead to social unrest.

“The Modi government has said there will be no Social Impact Assessment in the ordinance. There was unrest in the last 10 years due to SEZs, in Telangana too,” he added.

“Farmers from three villages are saying that the package is not enough for them. In Penumaka they earn much more with three crops. They don’t know where they will go. Bethapdui is a peculiar case with 300 acres where they gave land three times for roads from government projects.

“Ninety five per cent of farmers gave their land voluntarily. I don’t have a problem with that. I am not against ambitious plans for developing a grand capital. What I am saying is how are you going to protect the interest of farmers and farm labourers?” he asked

“How many acre of land is needed for capital? It is a policy decision and I am not saying ‘no’ to it. But there can be phases. If your are planning a secretariat then don’t stop farming in other places. Allow crops. The capital is not going to come up overnight.”

Pawan added that he had informed Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi about the “racial slurs” that TS and AP officials used against each and that it may lead to “civil war” and fights between departments, like in the recent Nagarjuna Sagar issue.

PK hits out at Navayuga

Actor-cum-politician Pawan Kalyan has targeted the Navayuga group that promoted Krishnapatnam port.

On Friday speaking to reporters he said 40 per cent of the AP coast is controlled by them.

“Vanpic Company owned by Nimmagadda Prasad was given 24,000 acres of land that was taken away from farmers. There was no development. Mr Prasad sold around 40 per cent of the share to Navayuga. The company also owns Krishnapatnam port. Mr Satyam Ramalinga Raju also sold share in Maytas to Navayuga at the behest of the then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. Out of 870 km of coast, 40 per cent is owned by one company. In Singapore there are two ports and the profit goes to the government,” he said.
