The actor will team up with his ‘Shandaar’ co-star Alia Bhatt for the second time in this film. His former flame Kareena Kapoor will also feature in the film, but reports state that the two won’t have any scenes together.

The film directed by Abhishek Chaubey is a gritty thriller based on drug trafficking in Punjab. Shahid who plays the lead, has expressed his nervousness while prepping for the film last month by saying, ‘Scariest part I have played yet have no clue how I'm going to get it right . Wish me luck guys.’

Today, he took to Instagram to share a picture of the ‘Udta Punjab’ clapper, with a caption that read, ‘UDTA PUNJAB takes off. This ones special. Wish us luck guys. It's a tough tough film. We need your love.’

The movie, written by Abhishek Chaubey and Sudip Sharma, is said to have three parallel stories.
