Kejriwal offers to resign as AAP national convenor, says overburdened with work
New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal tendered his resignation from Aam Aadmi Party Convener post again on Wednesday, saying he could not do justice to both CM post and the post of a Convener.
“Arvind Kejriwal tendered his resignation on February 26 from Convener post, which was unanimously rejected by National Executive,” senior AAP leader Ashutosh said.
He added, “Kejriwal tenders his resignation from AAP Convener post again today, stating that he could not do justice to both CM post and the post of a Convener.”
Meanwhile, the AAP National Executive meeting scheduled for Wednesday will decide on the fate of its two senior leaders -- Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, sources said.
Party sources said the duo are expected to be expelled from the party’s top decision-making body, the political affairs committee, for attempting to “remove” Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal as party convenor and attacking the AAP’s functioning through detailed notes leaked to the media.
“Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav will be told that as per majority decision, they will need to step down from the PAC. They will be told that even though their viewpoints are respected in the party, as they do not have a majority with them, they will be asked to either toe the line or leave,” a party source said. They said they were confident Mr Yadav and Mr Bhushan will be voted out of the PAC.
