Andhra Pradesh not to shift out its offices to the temporary capital
Hyderabad: Bowing to pressure from employees and NGOs, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided not to shift some of the government offices to the temporary capital in June. It had been Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s plan to shift a few government offices to the temporary capital by June 7, a day before the TD government completes one year in office, after the bifurcation of the state.
Municipal administration and urban development minister Dr P. Narayana said shifting to the temporary capital would be done in consultation with the employees and non-gazetted officers and revenue services officers’ associations.
In a meeting conducted by Dr Narayana and chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao with the senior officials, it was decided that it would not be possible to shift to the temporary capital in June. “The government will hold a detailed meeting with employees and NGO leaders next week. This meeting is likely to be held on March 10,” sources said.
Dr Narayana said the CM was also of the opinion that the demand of the employees was “fair” that proper facilities like accommodation and arrangements for education of children should be provided before shifting employees to the temporary capital.
“On the directions of the CM and also in the interests of the employees, it has been decided that shifting will be done after taking the staff into confidence,” he said.
Dr Narayana lashed out at YSR Congress president and opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for touring the capital city area. “Why is Jagan touring the capital area after the Land Pooling Scheme is over? We have set the target for construction of the first phase of the core administrative capital as June 2018," he said.
