Rivals mull legal action, Shivlal Yadav stands ground

The RCA was suspended for a six-month period, which expired on November 4, 2014
Jaipur: Rajasthan Cricket Association has threatened to take legal action after it was barred from participating in the BCCI AGM, including the election for the body’s top posts.
“The right to vote of RCA should have been allowed. The RCA was suspended for a six-month period, which expired on November 4, 2014. So our right to vote should have been restored. If you see the Supreme Court order, all of N. Srinivasan’s rights have been taken away but his right to vote remains intact,” Mehmood Abdi, RCA representative to the BCCI, said.
Abdi also raised objections against BCCI interim president Shivlal Yadav chairing the meeting. Some West Zone units might be contemplating moving the court to challenge result, but Shivlal was unfazed.
Baroda Cricket Association representative Rakesh Parikh was disqualified from voting as two rival groups from the state turned up for the AGM. Samarjitsinh Gaekwad was allowed to participate in the proceedings and this caused some resentment.
Asked about the reasons for the disqualification, Yadav said, “It is my prerogative.”
“After applying the rules and going through the respective files of the units, I decided who is eligible to vote in the election,” he said. When he was told that the disqualified unit may go to the court, Shivlal said: “They are free to do that. How can I stop them?”
