TPCC chief vows to induct youngsters
Hyderabad: The newly appointed Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and working president Mallu Bhatti Mr Vikramarka, promised to bring a change in the party set-up by giving top priority to youth and partymen who were unrepresented in party committees so far. The AICC on Monday made an official announcement regarding the appointments in TPCC along with few other states.
Speaking to the media separately, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy and Vikramarka vowed to bring back the party to power in the next elections besides launching stirs against the undemocratic and anti-people policies and programmes of the TRS government .“I will ensure that all party committees, right from village to the state level, are appointed within two months and promise to take everyone along, including seniors in the party,” Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said. Speaking to media at his residence here, the new TPCC president said, “It is most unethical and undemocratic for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to ask MLAs from other parties and leaders to defect to the TRS.” He said he will take charge as the party president in Telangana on March 6.
Speaking in Delhi soon after his appointment, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the Congress had given a long rope to the TRS government all these months and since it was a new government in a newly formed state. However, the manner in which the government was going and its failure to implement promises, it is high time for the Congress to take up large-scale agitations across the state.
In a related development, senior Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao said the Congress high command should have consulted senior leaders like him before effecting changes in the party set up. He also said the replacement of a Backward Class leader with forward community leaders may not be good for the party in Telangana where more than 60 per cent population is from Backward Classes. Speaking to media in Delhi, Mr Hanumantha Rao said he will cooperate with the new PCC chief since he was appointed by Congress president.
