The map would help locate the main valves set in villages

Hyderabad: The Medak police has sought the map of the RGTIL pipeline passing through the district in order to ensure that all safety measures are implemented near the main valves. Medak SP B. Sumathi said the police will ensure that the villagers living near the pipeline are not in any danger.

“We have sought the map of RGTIL pipeline to find out the locations of the main valves are identify the villages the pipeline passes through,” said Ms Sumathi.

The pipeline goes to Bharuch in Gujarat is 1,400 km in length. It passes through a few districts in Telangana. In Medak alone, it passes through Sadashivapet, Patan-cheru, Zaheerabad and a few other places. The pipeline was commissioned in 2009. In order to draw a plan for precautionary measures, the Medak police has decided to work with the RGTIL.

“They have pipeline awareness programmes conducted in villages. So, we have now asked them to include the police in the process,” said Ms Sumathi.

SC Colony in Maddigunta village near Sadashivapet, is located within 500 metres of the pipeline, while the main village is located about a kilometre away. The residents of SC Colony had to flee to the main village in order to escape the fire. The RGTIL technical team has assured the police that all the valves located in the districts will be examined as part of precautions.
