KCR to fix height of Pranahita-Chevalla irrigation project
Adilabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will visit Thummidihetti, site of the Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project proposed on the river Pranahita in Kautala mandal in Adilabad district on March 3.
It is learnt that the Chief Minister is likely to hold discussions with the irrigation engineers of Maharashtra and Telangana on reducing the height of the barrage following the recent discussions held between the chief ministers of Telangana and Maharashtra.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will also lay the foundation stone for the third unit of the 600-MW capacity power plant at Jaipur on that day.
According to party sources, the Chief Minister had inspected the construction of the first and second units of the power plants on December 25, 2014 and asked officials to complete the work quickly so that the government could meet the power demands of the state.
Telangana has been reeling under severe power crisis post bifurcation.
District collector M. Jagan Mohan held a review meeting with the officials on the arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit to the power plant and setting up of the pylon and the helipad.
Singareni director (E&M) Ramesh Babu, NTPC general manager Suhdkar Reddy, Mancherial RDO Ayesha Masrat Khanam and tahsildar Madhusudhan were also present at the meeting.
