Om Puri, who worked with her in Dirty Politics, seems to have only good things to say about Mallika Sherawat. In fact, he has decided to re-christen her Mallika ‘Sharafat’.
Says the veteran actor, “I had heard stories about her and was quite apprehensive. But when we met she was a completely different girl from what I expected her to be. So down-to-earth and innocent. She’s from Rohtak and is a complete small-town girl at heart. When I told her I was from Patiala, we hit it off instantly.”
Om says he’s shocked by tales of her tantrums. “She didn’t throw one tantrum during the song. I’ve named her Mallika Sharafat.” The two shot for one item song and bonded on the sets. They both have their international careers in common. Om wants to see Mallika’s Politics Of Love while Mallika is waiting to see Om’s West Is West. He says, “I’d love to work with her again.”
So don’t be surprised if Om and Mallika team up for an Ishqiya kind of romantic film. If Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya Balan can, why not Om and Mallika?
