Modi-Mufti meet: North, South Poles unite
New Delhi: After Modi-Mufti meeting in New Delhi, a delegation of BJP MLAs including Kavinder Gupta, Sat Paul Sharma, Daleep Singh Parihar and Abdul Ghani Kohli, called on Governor N.N. Vohra to hand over a letter conveying the BJP’s support in favour of the PDP for formation of government in the state and to invite Mufti Sayeed to form government.
Following the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital, PDP supremo Mufti Muhammad Sayeed described the coalition as the “bringing together of the North Pole and South Pole”.
The coalition was finalised following hectic deliberations over the last two months since both parties are known to have ideological differences on some of the contentious issues, like Article 370 and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (Afspa).
The common minimum programme (CMP) worked out by the two sides is expected to address these key issues and is likely to be released later on Sunday afternoon.
It is believed that the BJP will not raise the issue of Article 370 till the coalition government is in place.
Following the meeting with the PM, Mr Sayeed claimed this was first a political alliance and then an alliance for governance.
The PDP patron also met former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and visited the residence of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
