Andhra Pradesh: 3 cities to get global schools
Hyderabad: The AP government has chosen Nellore in the first phase over Vijayawada and Guntur for setting up international schools due to the presence of Sri City, Shar and the Krishnapatnam Port.
Visakhapatnam and Tirupati have also been shortlisted for setting up global schools under a Public-Private Partnership. The government has allotted 15 to 20 acres for the international schools. The government has said that the schools will not only be for children of expatriates, but also for “high net-worth individuals”.
The curriculum will be International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or other international curriculum.
The Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh stated, “Nellore is the fifth-most populous city in AP and is well connected with the Guntur-Vijayawada capital region. It is also connected to Chennai. Sri City, an integrated business city, is also being developed in the district.” Nellore also has the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. Visakhapatnam is a commercial and business hub. Tirupati is the largest town in Chittoor district and an important religious destination.
