WC 2015 SA vs WI: Hat-trick of centuries for AB de Villiers
Mumbai: There is a queer connection between South African superman batsman AB de Villiers and the West Indies cricket team. Be it the fastest hundred or a World Cup innings, the 31-year-old has been treating the Caribbeans uniformly with zero margin of error. AB’s Friday entertainment (162 off 66) in ICC World Cup 2015 is a hat-trick of sorts. The cricketer scored a hundred against the Windies for the third time in a row in a World Cup match.

The assault started back in West Indies itself, in World Cup 2007, when AB sent Corey Colleymore and company on a leather hunt. South Africa scored 356 for the loss of four wickets with AB scoring 146 himself. The Caribbeans put up a brave fight but could only manage 289.

The teams met again on the Indian subcontinent in 2011. The spinning Feroz Shah Kotla track in Delhi assisted leg-spinner Imran Tahir who took a four-for dismissing West Indies for 222. The Proteas chased it down in 42.5 overs riding on AB’s 107.
In the three innings against the Caribbeans in World Cups (from 2007), AB hit 37 boundaries and 15 sixes and remained unbeaten twice.
Not to forget, the cricketer broke all records smashing a 31-ball 100 (fastest-ever) in January 2014 against the same opponents.
There is another milestone the cricketer achieved on Friday, he had only seven dot balls in his innings.
