Panel says don’t regularise encroached Wakf lands
Hyderabad: The members of the Telangana Legislative House Committee want the government to issue necessary instructions to authorities to not regularise the Wakf lands that have been encroached by private individuals. The newly-constituted House committee, that will deal with all aspects of Wakf land encroachments, had met for the first time on Wednesday to work out the modalities of their enquiry.
Akbaruddin Owaisi, the leader of the MIM Legislature Party, told House Committee chairman Bajireddy Govardhan that the second survey, which took place to identify the Wakf properties and lands, should be published and information must be sent to all authorities to prevent illegal encroachments as well registration of disputed Wakf lands.
He said that no Wakf property should be regularised by the authorities till the dispute is adjudicated. Congress member Shabbir Ali said the Committee should have a thorough probe into all Wakf related affairs.
He also sought detailed information on the number of properties, encroachments and the ongoing disputes. Mr Bajireddy Govardhan asked the officials to come out with all details within next 15 days.
