Roads and Building department to hand over roads to GHMC
Hyderabad: The blame game between the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Roads and Building department has ended as the state government passed an order handing over all R&B roads in the Greater Hyderabad limits to the GHMC for maintenance.
The R&B department will only have control over National Highway stretches. The decision was taken in a meeting held by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao with regard to Strategic Road Development Programme for the city.
The network of 240.870 km roads, under the R&B department, including state highway roads in the GHMC limits, will be handed over to the civic body. Every time there is an accident due to the poor condition of roads, the two bodies blame each other. Now, the GHMC will be responsible for road maintenance.
