Now, pay more to use Outer Ring Road
Hyderabad: From April onwards Outer Ring Road commuters will have to pay more toll per junction as the leased out agency of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Authority will increase the charge. Currently, 50,000 vehicles use the ORR, and out of 20 junctions, 13 have toll booths.
The agency pays Rs 3.92 crore per month to HMDA. The rate will be calculated per kilometre and authorities say the increase will not be uniform. Toll is collected for seven categories of vehicles. For example, the toll for some of the most-used stretches like from Gachibolwi to Shamshabad, Pedda Ambeerpet to Patancheru, may be hiked by 30-40 per cent, say the authorities.
Anand Mohan, HMDA ORR incharge, said, “The proposed revised charge will be rounded off to the nearest round figure.” Revision of user fee by three per cent each year for the ORR is based on rates prescribed by the National Highway Fee Rules, 2008, issued by the ministry of shipping, road transport and highways.
Toll is collected at Pedda Amberpet, Bonguluru, Raviryal, Tukkuguda, Pedda Golkonda, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, APPA, Kokapet, Nankramguda, Edulanagulapally, Patancheru, Sultanpur, Dundigal, ramp, and the ramp near Kandlakoya and Shamirpet.
