Drunkard murders wife for refusing him money

Hyderabad: A drunkard allegedly murdered his wife for denying him money to drink at S.N. Colony in Ramachandrapuram. The culprit set her ablaze after a heated argument. She was shifted to hospital where she died.

Police said the couple Raju and Santhoshi, 27, were labourers and were married about nine years back and have two kids. Raju was addicted to alcohol and often had fights with Santhoshi. On Monday the couple went to their relative’s house for a function where Raju got drunk.

After returning, Raju demanded Rs 500 from his wife for drinking but Santhoshi refused. “Raju assaulted her. He also poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze. She was shifted to hospital and succumbed on Wednesday,” cops said. Based on a complaint by the victim's family a murder case was booked.
