Man dragged to death in an attempt to steal buffalo in Uttar Pradesh

Villagers are calling the buffalo as Yamraj's vaahan who delivered justice

Mumbai: A man attempting to steal a buffalo in a village in Agra was dragged to death by the animal.

Local media reported that the incident occurred on Sunday, in Nagla Mani village near Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, the man tried stealing the bovine late on Sunday night. The animal was calm until it reached the fields. Once there, the animal suddenly turned ‘wild’ and started running. The thief’s hand had got caught in the animal’s leash and he was dragged for nearly two kilometers.

The man suffered grievous injuries on his head, chest and abdomen, which caused his death.

Police are still trying to trace the man’s identity.

After the incident came to the fore, villagers from nearby gathered at the buffalo owner’s residence.

People started venerating the buffalo, calling it a divine creature. Others have started believing the buffalo to be ‘Yamraj’s vaahan’, (Indian God of Death’s vehicle).
