Mangaluru: Two days after a photo with a boy resting on the lap of girls from other community went viral on Whatsapp leading to one of the male students standing next to them being beaten up by Hindu vigilantes, the college on Monday suspended all the five girls and the boy in the controversial photo.
On Sunday, members of Hindu vigilante groups had allegedly assaulted Mohammed Riyaz, who was seen sitting alongside the boys and girls in the controversial picture. A disciplinary committee constituted by the college management met the parents and students involved in the case on Monday and decided to suspend all the five students.
In a letter to the Mangaluru University Student Welfare Officer and also to the Registrar, College Principal Raj Mohan has stated that the students will remain suspended till further orders. The principal has asked the university to form a special disciplinary committee. The principal has requested to nominate a member of the University to be a member of this committee.
