Kempanna panel to politician: Don’t need a deluge of views
State government to probe the Arkavathy denotification scam
Bengaluru: Justice Kempanna Commission constituted by the state government to probe the Arkavathy denotification scam has advised political leaders and bureaucrats to desist from discussing the denotification issue in public as it may hamper the ongoing investigation.
"The probe has begun and at this stage, politicians or officials discussing it is not appropriate", said sources in the commission. “The purpose of setting of this commission was to find the truth- whether or not the government had carried out denotification of land earmarked for Arkavathy layout illegally- and discussing this matter in public was like demeaning the commission.
It is also not appropriate to discuss this issue in the State Legislature because if may affect the commission's findings. Even officials like Bangalore Development Authority Commissioner Shyam Bhat must adopt 'self-restraint' by not answering or entertaining any questions pertaining to the scam from the media.
The doors of the commission are open to anybody to submit documents whatever they have as it may help the panel to investigate and found the truth,” sources pointed out. Meanwhile, sources said the process of studying 73 petitions and comparing them with the files given by the BDA was on.
