Espionage case: Santanu Saikia, aides sent to judicial custody
The accused alleged that they were made to sign on blank papers by police officials
New Delhi: Lalta Prasad, Rakesh Kumar, former journalist Santanu Saikia and Prayas Jain, arrested in the corporate espionage case, were remanded in judicial custody for 11 days by a Delhi court where they were produced on Monday after the expiry of the police custody.
The accused alleged that they were made to sign on blank papers by police officials. The allegations, however, were denied by the investigating officer, Sunil Kumar. The defence counsel for Lalta Prasad also alleged that police had thrashed his client during interrogation injuring him severely in the ear.
The police had last week kicked up a storm by arresting five petroleum ministry officials for stealing classified documents.
