Samsung to launch two versions of the Galaxy S6 next week

Samsung is all set to unveil the flagship smartphone(s) at the MWC 2105

bCome Mobile World Congress 2015 and all eyes will be set on the Korean Giant’s announcements. Samsung will be unveiling the flagship Galaxy at the event on 1St March 2015, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain.

However, according to a report, filed by MWC, Samsung is all set to unveil two versions of the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship. According to a few other media reports, Samsung will unveil two variants of the Galaxy S6—Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920X) and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G952X). However, there is no confirmation about the two variants from the Korean giant as yet.

Samsung is not changing the game this time—the strategy of launching two variants for the same flagship is not new and we have seen this happening before. Samsung released the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge earlier last year, and seems to want to follow the pattern with the flagship S6 this year too. The two sided (or three) handsets will be a differentiator for the company against its rivals in the market.

In earlier reports, Samsung is also said to drift away from using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets and adopt its own home-brewed Exynos chipsets, citing heating issues with the former chips. Samsung is also said to be the only handset around which will still offer its users with user-replaceable battery option other than building uni-bodied handsets, which other rival flagship sport. Lastly, Samsung is also said to be cutting down hugely on their user interface—TouchWiz.

The company is said to cut all ‘bloatware' and give the user the option to install the ‘unwanted’ apps if he/she required it. This will not only help improve the performance, but will also allow for better battery life and storage space for the user to install their own apps.
