Anirban Lahiri has made great strides in a short time
The years of hard work and everything else is adding up and paying big dividends
Seeing Anirban Lahiri win takes my mind to the time when we represented India at the 2006 Asian Games. Alongwith Chiragh Kumar and Joseph Chakola, we had just won the silver medal and both of us had decided to turn professional and we went to Thailand to play the Asian Tour Qualifying School.
It now seems a long back but in the highly competitive professional golf it is growing up and Anirban has done it superbly. On Sunday he notched up his second European Tour win at the Hero Indian Open, which was co-sanctioned with Asian Tour. I salute him for the strides he has taken and gone so far ahead. We played on the Asian Team at the EurAsia Cup last year and he is always raring to go. He gives his very best and of late all that is coming off.
The years of hard work and everything else is adding up and paying big dividends. Two wins in three weeks, a Hero Indian Open Trophy in his cabinet, a ranking somewhere near Top-30 or in the world. He has taken Indian golf to a new level.
