Telangana government promises to revamp universities
Karimnagar: Expressing concern over declining standards in higher education, Deputy Chief Minister and education minister Kadiam Srihari said that the TS government would revamp universities and convert them into centres of excellence.
He said this while addressing a gathering after laying foundation stones to three buildings here on Sunday. Mr Srihari said that the government was determined to improve the lot of universities.
“Even though it is a herculean task, the varsities will be revitalised by forming search committees soon. Steps would be taken to strengthen the higher education to ensure employment opportunities to students,” he stated.
“Some universities are not getting grants as they are not well equipped with adequate infrastructure including teaching staff,” he said. Against this scenario, there is a need to address challenges of these varsities to provide quality education to students.
