Bengaluru: The dumping of vehicles seized by the police at the City Railway Station parking lot has aggravated the woes of commuters who regularly use that space to park their two-wheelers. There are close to 50 seized vehicles and they have been lying at the parking lot for months. The parking problem becomes acute during weekends.
The Railways have been at loggerheads with the police over the issue. Few months ago the Railways decided to auction few vehicles, but it had upset the city police who even filed a FIR against the former.
Divisional Railway Manager Anil Kumar Agarwal said, “This has been a problem. We tired to clear the old vehicles, but then a case was filed against us. The police say that they do not have space to keep these vehicles, hence Railways have to provide the space. I will be bringing this issue with the senior police officials and try to come up with a solution.”
Pasha a security guard at the parking lot said, “These vehicles have been here for many months now. There are times when there is no space in the parking lot and people are forced to park their vehicles outside. The situation is quite chaotic especially during weekends.”
Rajat Kumar, a BPO employee, said, “I am struggling to find space to park my vehicle. They have provided space for unclaimed and seized vehicles but they are not able to provide space for the ones who are in a hurry or really need it. Why is the Railways allowing it?”
