Centre to attract foreign researchers, scientists

He stated an initiative to digitise ancient scriptures was being taken up by the Centre

Hyderabad: Like the HRD ministry, the Union science and technology ministry too wants foreign scientists to come and research in India. Union minister of state for science and technology Y.S. ‘Sujana’ Chowdary said he was working on a framework to bring scientists from abroad to work here. He said his ministry is working on specific focus areas to work scientifically for each of the government’s programmes. He also stated an initiative to digitise ancient scriptures was being taken up by the Centre.

The HRD ministry has also devised the Global Initiative for Academics Network to bring top academicians from the US to teach in India and a MoU was also signed.

“Our plan is still in the initial stages. We will create the kind of infrastructure foreign scientists need. We will give them the right research institute to work,” Mr Chowdary said. He also said that Andhra Pradesh was being considered for a solar power research institute.
