Hawk Eye traps 180 eve-teasers
Hawk Eye, the safety App has led to more than 180 cases of eve-teasing being reported
Hyderabad: Hawk Eye, the safety App launched by the Hyderabad police, has led to more than 180 cases of eve-teasing being reported by women and decoy parties trapping the culprits. The mobile app has also been downloaded by 27,000 users over the last one- and-a-half months. However, not a single panic call has been received so far.
Travel patterns in the city are increasingly seeing a change, with many opting for private cabs. The App has been developed to attend to any SoS call by women while travelling. They can register complaints and any other issues using the app. The app has seen many complaints and suggestions regarding traffic issues. There have also been several complaints about the use of loud speakers. Many users have sent photos of traffic violations.
“There has not been a single distress call so far, but we are equipped to reach the spot and take action within five to seven minutes of receiving the call. Since the App was introduced, 180 eve-teasers have been identified or arrested. Decoy parties were sent to the spot immediately after the complaint on ‘Hawk Eye’ was received,” said law and order ACP Anjani Kumar.
