Telangana: 10 IPS trainees who were on poll duty get swine flu
10 IPS trainee officers, posted for by-election duty at Tirupati, had contracted the H1N1 virus
Hyderabad: Around 10 IPS trainee officers, posted for by-election duty at Tirupati, had contracted the H1N1 virus there, stated doctors from Telangana.
They have been admitted to private hospitals in the city for treatment. Three of them were discharged on Saturday afternoon as they responded well to the medication. An officer at Gandhi Hospital said, “We have requested SVP National Police Academy to opt for isolation in the barracks just like the Air Force and the Army.”
The recent election duty of the officers, where they were a part of mass gatherings, could be the reason behind them contracting the virus. A senior health officer explained, “It is one particular group of trainees which was affected, hence, it is very important to treat those who are showing even mild symptoms.”
Four of the trainees have been kept under observation at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills. The remaining two are being treated in a private hospital at Ranga Reddy district.
