Church Street blast: Changes in SIT

This is being seen as a setback to the ongoing investigation into the blast case

BENGALURU: It has been nearly two months after an explosive went off on the busy Church Street, killing a woman and leaving four injured on December 28, but the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has not made much headway.

Now there have been some top level changes in the SIT. ACP Omkaraiah, who was coordinating the investigations done by various teams within SIT, has been promoted as SP and transferred to state intelligence wing.

This is being seen as a setback to the ongoing investigation into the blast case. Three ACPs, Shobha Rani (Cubbon Park), B.A. Angadi (Ulsoor Gate) and S. K. Umesh (Vijayanagar), who were part of the SIT, have been told to carry forward the investigation.

Sources said that these ACPs have also been given a deadline of a month to show progress in the investigation. “The ACPs were already in the SIT, but now they have been given specific instructions from the top brass. They have been updated on the investigation done so far. Each ACP has been asked to look into specific angles,” a source said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the one of the teams will be visiting Patna shortly as part of the investigation.
