Censor board breaks queue to view NH10 today

The release of NH10 has been delayed by a week
The Central Board Of Film Certification has decided to view Navdeep Singh’s hard-hitting road thriller NH10 on Monday. Says CBFC’s chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani, “We’re going out of our way to ensure that no movie’s release is delayed because of the CBFC. And yet we’re being informed that the release of NH10 has been delayed by a week because of us. Why blame the censor board for every thing that goes wrong with a film?”
Nihalani who has been under attack ever since he took over as the censor chief says he is trying to put the censoring process into order. “For six years there was practically no one at the helm. So it was easy to blame everything on the censor board,” he says adding, “NH10 was submitted for censorship at 1.30 pm on Friday. We have given them a time slot of 4 pm on Monday, (that is today) for viewing, even though we have several other films waiting in queue. We are making an exception so that there isn’t a delay. Now if their film is still released late, the censor board is not to blame.”
He reiterates that the job of the censor board isn’t an easy one. He adds, “There are certain filmmakers who want us to pass every film with abusive language and strong sexual content. We are accused of everything from the delay in release to tampering with the plot. We haven’t touched one frame in Badlapur and we’re being told we have not been liberal.” “The era of gaali-galauch (use of abusive language) for the sake of appearing liberal has now ended. We will go completely by the given guidelines,” he says.
