Andhra Pradesh to present silk garments in Telangana temple
Historic temple as the official venue for Rama Navami celebrations
Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and with his wife will offer pattu vastralu and mutyala talambralu to Lord Rama and Goddess Sita at the historic Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Vontimitta mandal of Kadapa district on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami.
AP endowments minister P. Manikyala Rao on Friday said the government has finalised the historic temple as the official venue for Rama Navami celebrations after bifurcation.
However, the AP government will continue with the tradition of sending pattu vastralu to the temple in Bhadrachalam in Telangana. Who will be given the honour of taking pattu vastralu from Andhra Pradesh to the temple in Bhadrachalam will be decided later.
The minister appealed to the people not to create any controversy over Rayalaseema getting the honours and Kadapa will be the Bhadradri of Andhra Pradesh on the lines of Bhadrachalam in Telangana. “We should not be talking in terms of the Ramalayam temple in Vizianagaram having lost to the one in Kadapa. It’s an auspicious event and let us treat it that way,” the minister said.
On the importance of Kodandarama Swamy temple in Vontimitta of Kadapa district, Manikyala Rao said even Muslims and people of other faiths visit it.
