More than 500,000 porn pictures are posted on Twitter each day

Twitter fails to show up at the high-level summit to tackle online pornography

Online pornography is a huge business, but the threat of online child pornography is on the rise. With social platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Snapchat and various other services seeing a rise of semi nude to pornographic images being shared, there are very high chances of child pornography being exploited through these channels.

Recently, a high-level summit was held, which discussed the topic of the spread of pornographic pictures over the social platform. While social giants Google and Facebook showed up, Twitter was nowhere to be seen. In an online report filed with Huffington Post mentions that according to the Daily Star, pornographers are taking to micro-blogging websites to target children, even though there are internet filters in place.

British Labour Party politician Helen Goodman stated that online pornography is a grave issue, but Twitter doesn’t seem to take it seriously, while campaigners accused Twitter of being a coward and failing to act against the issue. Huffington Post also mentioned John Carr, of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety, stating that the social media network has a huge responsibility and it is failing to live up to it.
