Address cancelled due to ‘special circumstances’ arising in wake of Manjhi's resignation

Patna: Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi's address to the joint session of Bihar Legislature was cancelled on Friday due to the "special circumstances" arising in the wake of Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's resignation.

"I have received a letter from Principal Secretary of Governor Brajesh Mehrotra that due to 'special circumstances' the Governor will not be able to address joint session of Bihar Legislature on start of the Budget session," Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary announced in the Assembly.

The Governor was to address the joint session of Bihar Legislature after which Manjhi was to seek the trust vote.

After making the announcement at 11:45 AM, the Speaker adjourned the House till 12:30 pm.

Later, the Speaker announced that the House has been adjourned sine die.

The Budget session of the two Houses of Bihar Legislature was scheduled to end on April 1.

Among many an important business, the state government was to present the Budget during the session.

But, the high voltage political drama on the very first day of the session caused uncertainty.
