Three held with 48-kg ganja
Hyderabad: The south zone team of the Commissioner's Task Force arrested three persons with 48 kg of ganja. The gang was bringing the ganja from Visakhapatnam in a car, and was to send the consignment to Haryana and UP by train. They were arrested at the Secunde-rabad railway station.
Police said the accused Dubey, who is absconding, used to purchase ganja from Visakhapat-nam at lower rates and transport it via the city. “He used to operate with two parties, each comprising two or more persons. The first party used to go to to Vizag while the second party stayed at Secunderabad," said N. Koti Reddy, additional DCP of the Task Force. They usually stay near railway stations.
Mr Koti Reddy said Dubey used to transport the ganja, packed in 10-kg travel bags, AC coaches. “He used talcum powder to mask the smell of ganja,” the officer said.
The accused were identified as Pukraj Rajpuro-hit, 44, from Patelnagar, Amberpet; Vijay Chowd-ary, 38, and Arun Kumar Thakur, 20, both from Ghaziabad district in UP. Police said Rajpurohit was the agent in the city, while the others took the narcotic to northern states. The Task Force police has handed over the gang to the Central Crime Station for further investigation.
