Hyderabad Metro passes language test, launch on March 21
Hyderabad: Messages will be displayed in four languages on screens at Metro stations. Testing of the same is being carried out at the stations by the operations team ahead of the launch on March 21.
Messages will be displayed in English, Hindi, Telugu and Urdu. While testing Urdu, the officials found that the words were going from left to right instead of right to left. Software engineers, however, soon rectified the problem.

There are cameras at entry point, main concourse level, staircase, retail area and also the train station level to ensure proper movement and safety of passengers. Operation teams will be present at the concourse level in the middle area from where they will monitor the movement of the trains and also of people.
A senior officer said, “Every detail is being worked out. There will be strict checking and the sensors will not open till the smart card or the coin or ticket is placed on the machine. The 5-second entry at the station will allow only the ticket holder to go in. Anyone else trying to enter, sensors will send out warning alarms.”

These measures are being taken so that only bona fide commuters can enter the paid level of the station. The ticket vending machine and ticket counters are placed at the entrance so that those commuters can buy their tickets there while those going to the retail section can carry on to the non-paid level.
There will be signage in English and Telugu to direct people along with help desks opposite the ticket counters. Entry, exit points for staircases and elevators are yet to be marked and sources said that this will be done just before the launch.
